Emirates is now offering its premium economy cabin on flights to a total of 16 destinations, with the addition of Osaka Kansai International Airport earlier this month.

The Dubai-Osaka route now features the carrier’s retrofitted four-class A380 superjumbo, which includes 56 premium economy seats in a 2-4-2 configuration.

Osaka is the second Japanese city to see Emirates’ premium economy product, following Tokyo (Narita) in December last year.

The airline launched its premium economy cabin in late 2020, and began rostering aircraft with the seating onto its flagship London Heathrow route from early 2021.

The seat is now available on flights to New York JFK, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Houston, London Heathrow, Sydney, Auckland, Christchurch, Melbourne, Singapore, Mumbai, Bangalore, Sao Paulo, Osaka, Tokyo Narita and of course the carrier’s Dubai hub.

Emirates had originally planned to retrofit a total of 120 Airbus A380 and Boeing 777 aircraft with a refreshed first class, new business class seats and the addition of premium economy – but it has since expanded the project to include an additional 71 aircraft.

Commenting on the news Satish Sethi, Emirates’ country manager for Japan, said:

“Since the introduction of the Premium Economy cabin on our Dubai/Narita route, we’ve seen overwhelmingly positive response from the Japanese travellers who experienced the product. The inclusion of Osaka in our Premium Economy network signifies our commitment to expanding the product offerings for Japanese customers.

“With more than 10,200 passengers having experienced our product since it was launched in Tokyo Narita in December 2023, we’re confident that Emirates’ Premium Economy will receive an equally positive response in Osaka as it sets a new benchmark in travel standards in Japan, redefining comfort and luxury with its meticulous design and unparalleled service quality.”
