Delta has unveiled what it says is “the most comprehensive update” to its Fly Delta app since 2019, with a range of new and updated features.

Version 6.0 of the app – available via the App Store and Google Play – feature a new Help Centre view with information on flight options and tracking baggage during periods of disruption, and a personalised Explore page with inspiration for future trips based on the individual user’s past journeys.

Boarding passes are now available with just one touch regardless of where the user has navigated to in the app, and a new My Trips tab provides brings together upcoming trip information into a standalone view, “mirroring how customers navigate the delta.com homepage”.

From early summer customers will also be able to log on to the inflight Delta Sync Wifi service directly through the app.

Last year the carrier announced plans to roll out free inflight wifi to all passengers by the end of 2024, in partnership with T-Mobile.

Commenting on the news Eric Phillips, SVP. and chief digital officer, said:

“The Fly Delta app connects customers to the full Delta experience, from inspiring travel and navigating a trip to seamlessly accessing exclusive partner experiences and content.

“This 6.0 update brings the Delta difference to customers no matter where they are on their journey.

“Every customer engagement is an opportunity for us to show them how Delta is different in moments when customers need us most.

“The Help Center view provides a way to connect with customers directly when travel is disrupted and gives them even more choice over their travel experience.”

Earlier this year British Airways announced plans to launch a new website and mobile app offering “deeper personalisation”, with initial changes rolling out by the end of the year.
