IHG Hotels and Resorts has opened the first Kimpton hotel in Mexico’s capital.

The boutique Kimpton Virgilio is situated in the capital’s Polanquito district, and features 48 rooms, rooftop bar La Cana and street-side restaurant Pepe Mesa Espanola.

As detailed in our recent feature on hotel openings for 2024, the hotel’s décor has been inspired by the Roman poet Virgil, with literary flourishes and bespoke pieces of art made by local artists.

IHG opened the first Kimpton hotel in Mexico in 2020, with the rebranding of an existing property as the Kimpton Aluna Hotel in Tulum.

These two hotels will be joined by the Kimpton Hacienda Tres Ríos Resort, Spa & Nature Park in the Riviera Maya on Mexico’s Caribbean coast later this year.

IHG purchased Kimpton in 2014, and has gradually expanded the brand beyond its US roots, with openings including Kimpton St Honoré Paris in 2021.
