Hong Kong flag carrier Cathay Pacific will be launching flights between Hong Kong and Ningbo in China starting 1 August 2024.

The oneworld carrier will operate four return flights a week with its two-class narrowbody Airbus A321neo aircraft, with 2-2 recliners in business class and economy class in a 3-3 configuration.

Cathay first launched service to Ningbo under its Dragonair brand, which later became Cathay Dragon, and eventually just Cathay.

Flight CX956 will operate on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, departing from Hong Kong at 1100 and arriving in Ningbo at 1320.

The return flight CX955 will then depart Ningbo at 1430 and arrive back in Hong Kong at 1650.

Cathay says the service will enable passengers from China to connect to the world through its Hong Kong hub.

Cathay’s Ningbo service also complements the daily flights operated by low-cost subsidiary HK Express to the city.

The two airlines combined are operating up to 226 return flights a week to 19 destinations in the Chinese Mainland this summer.

So far in 2024, Cathay Pacific has added Chennai, Colombo and Barcelona to its network, with Riyadh launching on 28 October 2024 and its seasonal Cairns service returning on 17 December 2024.

Meanwhile, HK Express has added Beijing (Daxing), Bangkok (Don Mueang), Sanya and Clark to its network this year.
