Delta has unveiled the first of its much-anticipated Delta One lounges at New York JFK’s Terminal 4.

The carrier first announced plans for the premium concept in 2022, and is also set to open Delta One lounges at Boston Logan and Los Angeles International airports later this year.

The JFK facility is located between Concourses A and B and measures more than 3,600 sqm – larger than any Delta Sky Club to date.

It is open to customers departing or arriving on Delta One tickets, as well as Delta 360 members departing or arriving on a Delta First Class ticket, and first / business class customers travelling with Air France, LATAM, KLM, Korean Air and Virgin Atlantic.

Facilities include a premium bar inspired by the gold leaf ceiling and chandeliers of Radio City Music Hall, a retro delicatessen style Market and Bakery with a penny-round ceiling inspired by the original Eero Saarinen-designed JFK terminal, a 140-seat brasserie restaurant offering a three-course meal service, and an at-seat beverage cart service.

The lounge features works by artists from Europe, South Africa, India, Japan and Cuba, and Delta has continued its recent amenity kit collaboration with Missoni, with pillows, vases and coffee table books featuring the signature zigzag design of the Italian fashion house.

Other facilities include a wellness area with nine reservable relaxation pods and treatments by from Grown-Alchemist certified therapists, and the Serenity Lounge with lighting which “mimics the light colours affecting the body’s circadian rhythms, helping your body get acclimated to the time zone to which you will be flying”.

There are also eight individual soundproofed booths for those looking to work, and eight shower suites with bathrobes, slippers, Grown Alchemist products and the option to leave clothes and shoes in a closet to be steamed / shined while you shower.

Finally the lounge also features an outdoor terrace with views of the airfield, featuring a retractable roof and “regional, seasonally updated plants”.

The unveiling of the first Delta One lounge follows the opening of a 1,300 sqm Sky Club lounge at JFK’s Terminal 4 last summer.

Situated close to Gate A7, the facility features a fireplace lounge with views of the airfield, a nook with “lush green seating evoking the elegance and privacy of a classic speakeasy”, and a centrepiece 350-degree bar.

The carrier also recently unveiled its renovated and expanded lounge at Miami International Airport, and in the last 12 months has opened new Sky Club lounges at Newark’s Terminal A and Boston Logan’s E Concourse.

Commenting on the news Claude Roussel, Vice President – Delta Sky Clubs and Lounge Experience, said:

“Our teams have spared no detail to ensure Delta One Lounge guests receive a truly memorable experience.

“It’s a new era for Delta – this Lounge is raising the bar across the board, from the amenities to the food and beverage offerings to the level of personalized service.

“We want our guests to feel the difference here; moreover, we want them to feel welcomed and valued from the moment they step through the door.”
