Hilton has announced plans to open two new hotels in Iceland.

The group will add a Curio Collection property in the northern Icelandic town of Akureyri next summer, with Akureyri “Skáld” Hotel, Curio Collection by Hilton set to offer 70 rooms, an all day dining restaurant with an outdoor courtyard, and “an innovative social club concept”.

The port town of Akureyri  is situated at the base of the country’s Eyjafjorour Fjord, and is a popular tourist destination due to its proximity to the Arctic Circle and the possibility of observing the Aurora Borealis.

Meanwhile Hilton is also set to open a new hotel next to the historic Freemasons’ Hall in Reykjavík’s Brietartún district in spring 2026. The group said the 170-room property would offer “premium lifestyle accommodation under one of Hilton´s brands, with more details to be revealed later this year”.

Both hotels will operate under a franchise agreement with owners Bohemian Hotels.

Reykjavik was the location for the first hotel under Hilton’s Canopy brand back in 2016 – the group Icelandic portfolio also includes Reykjavik Konsulat Hotel, Curio Collection by Hilton, Iceland Parliament Hotel, Curio Collection by Hilton and Hilton Reykjavik Nordica.
