Finnair has unveiled further details on its new lounge in the Schengen area of Helsinki Airport, due to open next month.

The new lounge will open on 9 July, featuring seating for up to 440 customers and the same design and colour palette as Finnair’s non-Schengen lounges at the Helsinki hub, first unveiled in 2019.

The facility will also include a Platinum Corner, exclusive to Finnair Plus Platinum and Platinum Lumo members, in response to customer feedback.

Meanwhile, the carrier’s business class Classic and Flex ticket holders, as well as Finnair Plus Gold members, can enjoy complimentary access to the new lounge. Access can also be purchased by all customers via the Manage Booking page or the Finnair app.

The Schengen Lounge has been designed by Studio Joanna Laajisto, featuring wooden textures, soft forms, a warm colour palette, plus furniture sourced from renowned Nordic designers, such as Artek, Nikari and Gubi.

Customers travelling with Finnair on the majority of flights across Europe will benefit from the new lounge, including when connecting in Helsinki from the UK and travelling onwards to Finnish Lapland and the wider Nordic and Baltic region.

Customers flying directly to and from the UK and Ireland can use Finnair’s Platinum Wing and Business Lounge in the non-Schengen area.

This news comes just a few days after the carrier completed its €200 million cabin refresh across its long-haul fleet of A350 and A330 aircraft.
